Reaching Out for a Ripple Effect

Card-game buddies donate weekly to the “shipping costs jar.” Somehow, it all gets done, thanks to Rick Scott, who this year will sort, stack and stuff 200 shoeboxes with toys and necessities for kids from around the world. |

As we have learned of late, hunger knows no boundaries. One in six Americans struggles with not having enough food to eat. It's easy to believe that hunger is an isolated issue, confined to a minority demographic such as the homeless and the poor, but the reality is much different. Millions of hard-working Americans—17 percent college educated—cannot make ends meet and are forced to skip meals or go without a healthy meal for days.

Courage to Care:
Caring In Small Ways
In our present American culture it’s often difficult to find someone other than the funeral director who will discuss end of life issues—even when it’s beyond obvious that the end of life has come. “Becoming like Jesus” means, in part, recognizing our “time” as he did (John 7:6, Matthew 26:18) which will help us understand even better how precious life is and will result in a deeper, wider, more profound courage we need to walk with others when their time comes.
