What is phone care? West Shore’s phone care is a rapidly growing ministry that reaches out to individuals with the love of Christ through the power of prayer and praise. Each week a team of volunteers gathers at the church to call attendees—those listed on West Shore’s contact list—to ask for prayer requests, praises and even offer to pray with others over the phone.

Who is calling? The phone care team is comprised of committed individuals who feel led of the Lord to reach out to others. Most have the gift of empathy and several are prayer warriors who are known for their intercessory gifts. Each phone care team member receives detailed training to ensure your needs are addressed with discernment, discretion, sensitivity, and care.

Our phone care callers all have a deep desire to be used by the Lord to pray with and for others, and especially for members of the body of Christ at West Shore.

How does it work? You will be offered an opportunity to share a need, prayer request, update or praise, either confidentially or publicly. Choose whether to pray with the phone care volunteer at that very moment, or opt to have your need prayed over by the entire team later that evening. Prayer requests that are shared are logged in the record of calls book and pastoral care sheets. The Record of calls book tracks calls made and received, and is seen by other phone care team members as calls are made. A more detailed description of prayer requests is recorded on pastoral care sheets which are forwarded to pastoral staff who pray through each request and in some cases (where it is requested) follow-up with a visit to the person(s) in need.

Concerned about confidentiality? Phone care callers are committed to your privacy, and will never talk about prayer requests outside of the phone care prayer time which takes place immediately following the calling session.
