Sunday Morning

The Thin Green Line

Series Overview

We live in a culture that moves fast. We can get a burger and fries in less than three minutes, and we can download new music in a matter of seconds. Unfortunately, this fast pace usually means we don’t stop to think about the money that constantly comes and goes, passing through our hands feeding our desire for more. But did you know throughout Jesus ministry one of His most prevalent topics was money? That’s right. The way we use our resources is important to God. The next three weeks we are going to take a look at the way we give, spend and save our money, and how these habits reveal the thin green line between our hearts and our money.

Wednesday Night

Series Overview

Like most adolescence, our students desire many things in the world. Ps3, Xbox, new cloths, shoes, apple products, cameras …..etc. The list is endless and the “wanting” seems to never end. Often times the idea of desire can be given a bad rap, but desire can be good. So often we come to church and feel guilty about our desire. We try to make up for having desire or find ways to set our desires aside. But what if we looked at faith in a whole new way? What if desire was actually the beginning of a much better life in Christ? It’s the direction of our desire that determines whether it’s good or not.

Junior High Winter Retreat
This year’s Jr. High Retreat had no shortage of snow, fun, and spiritual growth.  The focus was on prayer, and students participated in a prayer walk, prayed through the ABCs, worshipped and attended sessions led by Pastor Ken Thompson.  Along with sledding, ice skating and hockey, dodgeball, basketball, and other great activities, kids and leaders played spoons and silent football.  And of course there was the infamous Scaventure, a challenge that has students taking pictures of their team completing several tasks for points, including everything from jumping off tires to tracking down hidden cheese hats.

Parents vs Youth Volleyball Tournament
West Shore’s seventh and eighth graders fought hard to prove their skills on the court in the first “Parent vs. Youth Four-Square Volleyball Tournament.” In the end, the ‘rents dominated most of the games, proving their prowess with spikes, saves and graceful agility in spite of the multiple balls flying around them in all directions. Thanks to all the parents and students who played in this event. It was a lot of fun. Be on the lookout for a summer "Parent Challenge." Water balloon fight?
